Academic Writing

The first chapter of this lecture is devoted to paragraph  organization. It is divided into two parts, the first one presents paragraph organization and the second one presents paragraph outlining; while, the second chapter  tends to present the different types of paragraph.

 Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  1.   Recognize the essential elements of a good paragraph.
  2.   Recognize the different parts of the paragraph.
  3.   Identify the three different types of sentences used to write a paragraph : topic sentence, supporting sentences and concluding sentence.
  4.  Compose complete topic sntences and concludig sentences.
  5.  Make an outline of a paragraph.
  6.  Write a paragraph containing a topic sentence, supporting sentences and a concluding sentence.
